The Native Village of Napaimute is a federally recognized Tribe with deep ties to the Middle Kuskokwim River. The historic village site is located along the north bank of the Kuskokwim River east of Aniak. Today, the Tribe continues working to sustain Napaimute, preserve its cultural heritage, and care for the lands and waters that have supported its people for generations.

Known in Yup’ik as Curarpalek, meaning “home of the big blueberries,” the community has longstanding Yup’ik and Athabascan connections and a history closely tied to fishing, subsistence, and life along the river

Aniak Traditional Council is the federally recognized Tribal government for the Native Village of Aniak, located along the Middle Kuskokwim River near the mouth of the Aniak River. The Tribe works to support the well-being of its members while protecting cultural traditions, subsistence ways of life, and the lands and waters that sustain the community. Aniak also serves as an important regional hub for many Middle Kuskokwim communities.

The Sleetmute Traditional Council serves the Village of Sleetmute, a federally recognized Tribe located along the Middle Kuskokwim River. The community has strong cultural and subsistence connections to the Holitna River an important area for salmon, fish, and wildlife. Fishing, hunting, gathering, and river travel continue to be important parts of community life, while local and traditional knowledge helps guide stewardship of the lands and waters for future generations.

The Crooked Creek Tribal Council serves the community of Crooked Creek along the Middle Kuskokwim River. The community has deep Indigenous roots and a long history connected to seasonal fish camps, subsistence harvesting, river travel, and stewardship of the lands and waters that continue to support local families and traditions.

The Native Village of Telida is a federally recognized Upper Kuskokwim Athabascan Tribe with traditional lands along the Swift Fork of the Kuskokwim River. Telida has generations of cultural and subsistence connections to the Upper Kuskokwim region, including fishing, hunting, trapping, and gathering. Although the village is now periodically occupied, Tribal members continue to maintain strong connections to Telida and their ancestral lands.

Lime Village is a federally recognized Tribe and Dena’ina community located along the Stony River, a major tributary of the Kuskokwim. Known traditionally as Hek’dichen Hdakaq’, or “Abundance Village,” the community has deep cultural ties to the Stony River region, where fishing, hunting, gathering, and stewardship of the land remain central to Dena’ina traditions.
